The Witcher 3 Remastered Stuns Fans as Songs of the Past Gets Its First Reveal

Geralt Rides Again in The Witcher 3 Remastered and Songs of the Past

CD PROJEKT RED has officially unveiled The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered during gamescom Opening Night Live, bringing a major overhaul to one of the most celebrated RPGs of all time. The upgraded edition will launch on 29 September for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and, for the first time, a native version on Nintendo Switch 2.

The remaster goes far beyond visual improvements. Players can expect enhanced combat, smoother traversal and movement, revamped Witcher Sign effects, improved horse handling, smarter monster AI, a reworked skill tree, transmogrification, expanded Photo Mode, new finishing moves, and numerous gameplay refinements across Geralt’s journey.

Alongside the remaster, CD PROJEKT RED also offered the first look at Songs of the Past, a brand-new paid expansion arriving in 2027. The adventure introduces the peaceful region of Letten, a land known for its thriving villages, rich folklore, abundant harvests, and vibrant festivals. However, beneath its idyllic surface lies an ancient evil, forcing Geralt to confront terrifying new enemies and unravel a long-buried mystery.

As another surprise, existing Witcher 3 owners will receive Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine for free, giving newcomers a chance to experience both acclaimed expansions before the remaster arrives in September.

Additionally, CD PROJEKT RED is also partnering with Blizzard Entertainment to bring both releases to Battle.net. And players who purchased the expansion will receive a special Geralt-inspired Diablo 4 skin.

With so much new content and several long-requested improvements, The Witcher 3 is getting a pretty substantial second life.
