THQ Continues to Build Their IP Catalog
It looks like THQ Nordic is planning to acquire every franchise left in the dust from gaming’s last generation, as the publisher has now added two more IPs to its growing roster.
We are happy to announce that THQ Nordic has acquired the IPs for “Alone in the Dark”, a Lovecraftian survival horror game series and “Act of War”, a real-time strategy game featuring a story by NYT bestselling author Dale Brown, from Atari. pic.twitter.com/tmjpdI7HjO

Both properties were previously held by Atari and though THQ hasn’t said anything else regarding the acquisition yet, I’m sure they’re eager to find a studio interested in reviving the Alone in the Dark series, which was a huge hit in the early 90s and is the first 3D survival horror game. The franchise even received the Uwe Boll Horrible Film Adapatation treatment not once, but twice. The Act of War IP is lesser known, so it’ll be interesting to see what, if anything, the publisher does with it.
THQ Nordic is on a roll, having recently acquired the Kingdoms of Amaluar IP much to the excitement of fans of the forgotten last-gen fantasy RPG, and currently has its hands full with the upcoming Darksiders 3 and Biomutant, both of which are coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Let us know what forgotten IP the publisher should pick up next in the comments, and keep it locked to COGconnected for all the latest gaming news!
