E3 2019 Might Be the Last Show at the LACC
The dust has finally on E3 2018, but the Entertainment Software Association, or ESA, have already locked in the dates for next year’s expo, E3 2019.
The ESA has announced that 2019’s Electronic Entertainment Expo will take place from June 11th to the 13th at the Los Angeles Convention Center. As of right now, this is the final show confirmed for the LACC. ESA CEO Michael Gallagher stated last year that if the LACC does not upgrade and modernise the facility then the following E3 in 2020 could be held at a different location. Some suggestions he made for improving LACC would be to increase show floor space and to connect the West and South halls better.
As for this year’s E3, the expo drew in more than 69,200 attendees, a bump up from E3 2017’s 68,400. Amongst the 200 exhibitors, 85 were shown at E3 for the first time. Gallagher called E3 2018 “an enormous success that reinforced the cultural prominence of video games for a global audience.”
Ever since its first E3 in 1995, Los Angeles has mainly been the primary location for the big event. In 1997, it was held in Atlanta and in 2007 the show moved to Santa Monica. As of now, the ESA hasn’t commented on what city the show could possibly move to in 2020.
