The Big 5 – The Five Biggest Games of March 2016

Here we are again at our monthly Big 5. Spring has almost sprung, the air is sweet and there’s a ton of amazing games just on the horizon. In last month’s Big 5 we had a hard time narrowing the list down to five games. We had such a hard time that we actually included a sixth title before also including a Special Mention and an Indie Spotlight title! The big games on the radar were Unravel, Street Fighter V (which you can win right now on COGconnected!), Layers of Fear, XCOM 2, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, Far Cry Primal, and our Special Mention, Dying Light: The Following. In the Indie Spotlight we featured the fantastic Firewatch.

This month we’ve got five big games that you should keep your eye out for and we welcome back our Indie Spotlight as we look at a PC and Oculus Rift game that has been stirring up excitement for the better part of a year now. In the spirit of playing ALL THE GAMES we’ll even add in a Special Mention and second Indie Spotlight (we really should consider renaming this feature). STOP THE INSANITY! Let’s get into it, shall we?

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD – Nintendo – March 4 (Wii U)

The Gamecube/Wii classic is back and in glorious HD! Considered by many to be the best that the Zelda series has to offer (personally, I think Ocarina of Time has something to say about that), Twilight Princess focuses on our beloved Link attempting to save Hyrule from a mysterious and corrupt parallel dimension known as the Twilight Realm. Enlisting the help of Midna and sometimes taking the form of a wolf we see Link off on one of his biggest adventures to date. Now I know that Zelda fans have been pining for that brand new Zelda title to blow our minds and remove all doubt as to why we bought a Wii U, but in the meantime this isn’t a bad way to spend your time. Brand new Zelda just on the horizon, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD right now… all is right with the world.

Tom Clancy’s The Division – Ubisoft – March 8 (Multiplatform)

For many gamers out there Tom Clancy’s The Division is the ONLY game to look out for this March. Probably the most hyped up game of the month this RPG/Shooter blend (no, this isn’t Destiny) drops you into a dystopian future where terrorists have successfully deployed a weaponized virus into the heart of New York City. The game itself is completely PVP where you can come across players at any time who may choose to fill you full of holes like Swiss cheese and loot your rotting corpse so there’s certainly a heightened amount of tension as you wander the war zone like streets of the city. The Division was very successful in both it’s open and closed betas so the hype train just keeps on chugging. If you’re an RPG and cover shooter fan your two favorite worlds have collided. Rejoice!
