With anticipation for EA Studio’s other major shooter on the horizon, the surprise announcement of Apex Legends not only taking place in the Titanfall universe but being a free to play battle royale blew everyone away. While the debate over the timing of the games announcement is still hotly discussed, the fact of the matter is Apex Legends has made a huge impact and is quite possibly the beast that will slay the giant: Fortnite. Apex Legends offers new gameplay mechanics to the ever growing yet still infantile battle royale genre and has quickly become a leader among gamers. Apex Legends is a free to play battle royale title from EA Studios and Respawn Entertainment based in the Titanfall universe. Players will drop in squads of three unique characters and compete with 57 other players to be the last team standing. The personalities of these characters all stand-out to Overwatch-type degrees, making them quickly become fan favorites. When an ally falls in combat, you will be able to bring their banner to a respawn point and bring them back into the fray, resulting in longer and more chaotic battles. While the game does heavily support the dreaded loot boxes, this is still a free to play game which has already taken a large portion of the player base from other battle royale titles and doesn’t seem to be slowing down.
