3. Call of Duty: Vanguard – November 5
Gasp! There’s a new Call of Duty game this year! The short wait is over triple-A FPS fans! The story of Vanguard is about the birth of Special Forces towards the end of World War II. There will be 20 new multiplayer maps, and the return of everyone’s favorite zombies, so Call of Duty fans should be kept busy until this time next year. What keeps Call of Duty: Vanguard from being higher on this list, is that the games in this franchise come out at least once a year, and there’s less hype around them, so much as there is expectation. This fatty ding dong will be available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
2. Forza Horizon 5 – November 9
It’s been three years since the release of Forza Horizon 4, so racing sim fans rejoice, as your wait is over! Forza Horizon 5 is promising the biggest map in franchise history, which will also feature the highest heights. This twelfth series installment will be taking place in a fictionalized open-world version of Mexico that promises volcanos, jungles, beaches, temples, and cities (which sounds suspiciously arcadey to this writer). There’s really nothing keeping Forza Horizon 5 from the top spot this month, other than that there has been a long wait, and a lot of hype behind our top game. Sorry PlayStation owners, but Forza Horizon 5 is only available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
1. Shin Megami Tensei V – November 12
I know, I know: Shin Megami Tensei isn’t the hypest franchise on the planet. But did you know that Shin Megami Tensei has been around since the NES days, and is the direct inspiration to the Pokemon franchise? Have you ever heard of a little game called Persona 5? Well, it happens to be a spin-off game to the main Shin Megami Tensei series. Did you know we haven’t had a main series Shin Megami Tensei game, on console, in North America, since 2003!? And did you know that some of us Switch owners saw Shin Megami Tensei V as a system seller when it was first announced in January 2017, in the same presentation in which the Nintendo Switch console itself was first revealed!? Needless to say, there’s a lot of build up behind the release of Shin Megami Tensei V. And if, like me, you are being crushed under the weight of anticipation for this Switch exclusive, you can always play Persona 5: Royale or Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne HD Remaster in the meantime.
Do you agree with our choices? Does development length equal more than a triple-A budget? Let us know in the comments.
