3. Street Fighter 6 – June 2
Street Fighter V turned out to be an amazing game. It had a rocky launch, with a barebones start. But from the beginning, the gameplay was incredible. Street Fighter 6 is looking to launch with as much promise as V finished with. The fighting game community is losing its collective mind, because Street Fighter 6 looks like it will be the premier 2D fighting game of this console generation. And somehow, it’s only #3 on The Top 5 Video Games Arriving in June 2023. Street Fighter 6 will be available for both PlayStations, PC, and Xbox Series X/S (right now there is no Xbox One version planned).
2. Final Fantasy XVI – June 22
There is a new mainline Final Fantasy being released this month, and somehow it isn’t the #1 game in The Top 5 Video Games Arriving in June 2023. It’s been 7 years since the release of Final Fantasy XV, a very flawed game, with a troubled development, that remains one of my favorite games of the last console generation. In contrast, Final Fantasy XVI has had a smooth development, and the game will ship complete, with no need for patches or planned DLC. It’s promising Devil May Cry-like combat, and a more focused structure. Final Fantasy XVI is a huge PS5 exclusive.
1. Diablo IV – June 6
Diablo IV is the big kahuna of The Top 5 Video Games Arriving in June 2023. It’s been three years since its breathtaking announcement teaser. Since then, Blizzard has shown itself to be a troubled company. And Diablo III had one of the worst launches in video game history. But the series popularity is undeniable. Hopefully Blizzard will deliver a great experience upon Diablo IV’s launch. There are a lot of thirsty players out there. Diablo IV will be available for everything except the Switch.
Do you agree with our choices? Was I right to begrudgingly place Diablo IV above Final Fantasy XVI? Let us know in the comments.
