Top 5 Video Games Arriving in January 2023
January typically isn’t a massive month for game releases, but Japan doesn’t seem to care about that. The Top 5 Video Games Arriving in January 2023 are almost all JRPGs. Yes, you read that correctly. 2022 was an amazing year for JRPG fans. There was a high volume of releases, and a high percentage of them were really fantastic. 2023 seems like it’s gonna repeat that trend. There are two honorable mentions this month. One is the PlayStation and Xbox release of former Switch exclusive Monster Hunter Rise. The other is a Nintendo Switch exclusive release of arguably the most beloved Harvest Moon game, now titled Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life. The Top 5 Video Games Arriving in January 2023 are:
5. One Piece Odyssey – January 13
One Piece Odyssey is a turn-based JRPG, based on the One Piece manga and anime. The problem with this is that JRPGs are usually very narrative driven, and One Piece isn’t finished yet. But the game was developed by ILCA, who developed Dragon Quest XI, which is a genre classic. Hopefully the game covers early arcs, while still providing a complete experience. If that’s the case, One Piece Odyssey might be a perfect gateway into the daunting One Piece franchise. One Piece Odyssey will be available for both PlayStations, Xbox Series, and PC.
4. Dead Space Remake – January 27
The Dead Space Remake is the only non-JRPG in The Top 5 Video Games Arriving in January 2023. Not to be confused with Callisto Protocol. The original Dead Space is getting a full next gen remake. The original game still holds up very well, but PS5 and Xbox Series owners will now be able to play it with all the modern upgrades one would hope for. It looks like Dead Space will be pretty faithful to the original, and not something too radical. Dead Space Remake will be available for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
