The Bad
Death end re;quest: Code Z

Death end re;quest: Code Z is a gruesomely violent dungeon crawling JRPG. It has a strong apocalyptic narrative, and great art and music. But the core gameplay is a strange version of “every time the player moves or acts, so does the enemy”. And the gameplay loop gets pretty stale. Our reviewer positively concluded “Visual novel fans will likely really enjoy the narrative… and fans of dungeon crawlers might appreciate how unique the game is”. Even though it’s in The Bad section of The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games May 2025, Death end re;quest: Code Z still scored a respectable 65.
The Precinct

The Precinct is a Grand Theft Auto clone, where the player gets to be a cop, instead of a criminal. Our reviewer loved the idea, but found the gameplay got stale quickly. They wrote “Routine patrols quickly become repetitive, with minor offences dragging down the game’s pacing”. It doesn’t help that The Precinct lacks polish. It’s one of two games in The Bad section of The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games May 2025 that scored poorly.
Scar-Lead Salvation

Scar-Lead Salvation is a roguelike third person shooter. A trend among the games in The Bad section of The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games May 2025 is that they all have bland gameplay loops. Scar-Lead Salvation is the most egregious of these offenders, as it entirely consists of going to similar-looking rooms, doing the same things. Our reviewer wrote “Its roguelike elements are too basic, causing each run to blur into the next with little variation”. Just not enough variety.
