10 Things We’re Excited About in DOOM: The Dark Ages – Revelations
Great news DOOM fans, The Dark Ages is getting a huge expansion. After seeing the full reveal for Revelations last week, it’s clear this is much more than a standard DLC or content update. It’s a beefy whooper of content that adds a lengthy new campaign, slick new abilities, tougher enemies, and a massive amount of endgame content for folks who want that extra punishing challenge. Here are the 10 things that stood out the most during the reveal last week.
1. It’s Bigger Than I Expected
Revelations is expected to take around 10 to 12 hours to finish, making it about the same size as both DOOM Eternal DLCs combined. There is no question that it sounds more like a full expansion than a small add-on.

2. The New Chain Spear Looks Awesome
Clearly, the Chain Spear is the star of the DLC. It lets you dash, grapple across the battlefield, throw it at enemies, parry attacks, and pull off powerful combos. It looks like it will completely change how combat feels, and I am hyped for it.
3. Faster, More Mobile Combat
The base game made the Slayer feel heavy and powerful. Now, with the Chain Spear, you’ll be flying around arenas much more, making fights even faster and more exciting.
4. A Huge Endgame
The campaign doesn’t end when the story does. There are Master-level challenges, Slayer Trials, special combat arenas, an Uber Boss, and even tougher Master Arenas waiting for folks who want to test their skills.

5. Classic DOOM Levels Are Back
One of the coolest surprises is the ability to unlock playable levels inspired by the original DOOM games. It’s a nice little reward for folks who love exploring.
6. New Demons to Fight
The Arch-vile and Pain Elemental are returning, but there are also brand new enemies and stronger versions of familiar demons. The devs say every fight should feel fresh.

7. Better Exploration
id Software says these are some of the best levels they’ve ever made. Expect hidden paths, secrets, backtracking, and rewards for players who take the time to explore every corner.
8. A New Hub Area
Instead of simply picking missions from a menu, you’ll explore the Slayer’s prison hub. It grows over time with new rooms, puzzles, secrets, and lore to discover.
9. A Bigger Story
This isn’t just another mission. The DLC explores a major turning point for the Slayer, showing him lose everything before fighting his way back. It sounds like an important chapter in the overall story.

10. The Ripatorium Gets Even Better
The endless combat mode is getting its biggest update yet with new arenas, encounter presets, unlocks, and more ways to keep playing after you’ve finished the campaign.
From the new Chain Spear to the massive endgame and improved exploration, Revelations looks like a DLC that’s jam-packed with content. If id Software delivers on everything shown during the presentation, this could end up feeling like one of the biggest and best expansions the series has ever received. Happy DOOM-slaying kids!
