The Caribbean looked incredible before, but this dynamic sea breathes new life into the world. Waves threaten to capsize, requiring you to navigate towards them to stay upright. The tension is further enhanced as storms unleash further dangers, making your journey across the sea feel unpredictable. Not only are there improvements on the sea but under it too. Diving into the ocean, you’ll encounter a wealth of secrets. From stunning sea life to hidden treasure, there’s a greater sense of discovery that makes exploration feel just as rewarding below the waves.
At the Wheel
Ubisoft has refined the ship control, making your journey much more enjoyable. Tighter handling allows you to navigate the sea more effectively. Turning is far less sluggish than in the original, allowing you to steer away from hazards and position yourself to catch the wind more effectively. This leads to faster movement through the sea, and with a new autopilot feature, improves the pacing of the game.
Ready the Cannons
Naval combat is what really helped the original to stand out from its competition. While this advantage remains, small tweaks improve the experience. Weapons now have more options such as doubling your chain shot to deal huge damage. Combining this with smoother boarding transitions, battling at sea is much better.
Building a Crew
New to the game is the ability to recruit and assign officers to the Jackdaw. To enlist any of the three characters, you must complete their mission to gain their trust which rewards you with a perk for your ship. Each will help you in battle, especially when taking on those Legendary Ships that dominate the seas.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced improves on all aspects of life at sea. With a clear focus on refinement over reinvention, the game successfully elevates the adventure with its tighter controls and deeper immersion on the Jackdaw.
