The Three Best and Worst Games of May 2021

The Worst

Puzzle Bobble VR: Vacation Odyssey

Puzzle Bobble in VR sounds like a great time, but its execution leaves much to be desired, especially due to its twitchy aiming and overall casual experience that is in contrast to its score-chasing ways. In our review, we conclude that “when you’re asking players to strap on a fairly heavy VR headset for longer periods, you really need to give them a more thrilling and unique experience than this.”

King of Seas

*** Read our review here ***

King of Seas is an action RPG in a procedurally generated pirate world in which sailing and ship battles take the spotlight. While the game sounds great on paper, the experience is ultimately marred with pacing issues as well as the fact that sailing gets old pretty quickly, a problem when sailing is a core component of the game. In our review, we found that “it’s not long before every delivery job and bounty hunt starts feeling quite familiar.”

Siege Survival: Gloria Victis

Lastly, Siege Survival: Gloria Victis is a game that sounds exactly what you would expect from its name. It is a siege survival game set in the Gloria Victis universe. Its muddy aesthetic, boring stealth, and limited paths to victory keep the game from being good. In our review, our reviewer concluded that he “will not be able to help imagining the game this could have been; brighter, sleeker, and more imaginative.”
