3 Up, 3 Down – February 2025
February was a great month for video game releases. An overwhelming number of COGconnected’s reviews scored in the 80-85 range. Most of the major releases were as good as people hoped they would be. While all of the games in The Good section of The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games February 2025 were major titles, most of the games in The Bad section were smaller titles that failed to impress. Without further ado, here are The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games from February 2025:
The Good
Avowed

Avowed is the highest scoring game on The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games from February 2025. Our reviewer loved it, giving it a 93/100. It’s a first-person action spin-off of the Pillars of Eternity CRPG series. Our reviewer wrote that Avowed “gives the players densely interesting zones to explore, weighty choices to make, and engaging companions to rely on”. What more could an ARPG fan ask for?
Civilization VII

Civilization VII is another excellent Civ game. It’s really streamlined the empire building process that players love about the series, in positive ways. This newest entry might be the easiest place for interested newcomers to start. Our reviewer’s only complaint is that the content is slim upon launch. The Civilization games always grow to be their best by the end of their cycles, when DLC content has been added. Because of this Civilization VII is the lowest scoring game in The Good section of The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games from February 2025. But still a top 3 game in a month of high scoring games.
PGA Tour 2K25

PGA Tour 2K25 is an excellent golf game. While it is a sim, it can be played in a more arcade-y way. Our reviewer was new to the series, and had a great time trying all the different ways to play. The graphics have received a major upgrade from past series entries as well. Our reviewer concluded “The courses look awesome, your swings feel precise, and every stroke sounds excellent.” The world has at least one new golf sim fan because of PGA Tour 2K25. Anyone curious should definitely give it a try. PGA Tour 2K25 scored a 90/100, which made it an easy inclusion in The Good section of The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games from February 2025.
