April 2021 brings with it one of the biggest games of the year, and perhaps the first true next-gen exclusive title of 2021. Alongside this title is a couple of solid remasters of games that deserve another shot at the spotlight. Without further ado, let us take a look at the three best and worst games of April 2021.

The best game from April 2021 is undoubtedly Returnal, one of the first truly next-gen experiences found on the PS5. Returnal is a roguelike third-person shooter with bullet-hell elements along with some possible influences from some classic titles. In our review, we state that the game “tells a captivating, mysterious, and oftentimes haunting narrative with gorgeous, unsettling visuals and compelling voice acting.”

The remaster of the original Nier title, Nier Replicant ver.1.22474487139 looks to build on the success of Nier: Automata and allow players to give the first title another try. In our review, we found that “with updated combat and visuals, Replicant can proudly sit amongst greats in the genre.”

SaGa Frontier Remastered

SaGa Frontier Remastered is a remaster of the 1998 classic JRPG. The remaster adds characters, events, and features to the title which features multiple playable protagonists. In our review, we concluded that “SaGa Frontier Remastered is a nostalgic trip back to the 90s that encapsulates the best and worst of retro JRPG design.”
