The following is a list of games currently available on Xbox One, but are getting some substantial optimizations for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. These enhancements will ensure the Xbox Series X versions are the absolute best ways to play these excellent games. The five listed here are by no means definitive, but these are the five that we’re most excited to boot up on our brand new consoles.
Gears 5
The most recent mainline Gears of War game, Gears 5, is coming back to Xbox Series X with a vengeance. Ray-tracing support, 120 frames per second mutliplayer, and Dave Bautista all contribute to a must-play experience. Even better, this holiday season, we’ll get brand new story DLC that explores a whole new group of Gears during the events of Gears 5.
Forza Horizon 4
One of the best racers of the current generation, Forza Horizon 4, will be optimized for Xbox Series X to provide 4K visuals at 60 frames per second. An already gorgeous game will look even better, and run as smooth as a knife through warm butter.
Destiny 2
Big news for Destiny 2 fans, as support for the title isn’t slowing down anytime soon with the release of the upcoming Beyond Light update. And with the launch of the Xbox Series X, Destiny 2 will be optimized with 4K visuals at a smooth 60 frames per second. Haven’t jumped on the Destiny 2 bandwagon? Madden NFL 21
The annual tradition that is Madden NFL 21 will be receive a free Xbox Series X optimization. Granted, the reviews for Madden NFL 21 weren’t exactly favorable, maybe EA will add enough polish to the Xbox Series X update to help resolve some of the glaring issues.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps
The beloved platformer, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, will be receiving a Xbox Series X update that will run at 120 frames per second in 4K. In addition, this game will be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch. Pretty big news for a game that got some incredible reviews.
