8 – The Vanishing of Ethan Carter

*** FULL REVIEW ***

On a personal note, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter was one of the best games I played this year. An engaging plot is married with an immaculate soundtrack, challenging puzzle solving and gorgeous backdrops to create a truly rounded experience. The adventure of paranormal detective Paul Prospero is gripping from start to finish and developer, The Astronauts, should be proud.

7 – Helldivers

*** FULL REVIEW ***

A ton of fun, challenging as all hell, and best played in the company of others, Helldivers is a blast. This top-down shooter from developer, Arrowhead Game Studios puts players in teams of two to four as they attempt to save Super Earth from invading enemies. Friendly fire puts cooperation high on the list of priorities as this Starship Troopers inspired send-up keeps gamers on their toes.

6 – The Talos Principle

*** FULL REVIEW ***

Oh, you like to solve puzzles do you? If you do, look no further than The Talos Principle. Universally praised by critics this brain buster mixes mystery with increasingly complex puzzle solving and will challenge all. A bit heavy on the text and occasional framerate/pop-up issues aren’t enough to take away from the overall experience delivered here.
