Chun-Li Street Fighter V Watch Impressions
It’s getting to the point where I am starting to sound like a broken record. There isn’t much more I can say. SuperGroupies have cemented itself as a reliable brand for high-quality video game merchandise. From Watches to Bags, SuperGroupies has yet to disappoint us.
Sure, it’s not cheap stuff and some of the items are extremely hard to get, but if you’ve managed to secure merch from the company, you’re likely a satisfied customer. Once again, we are taking a look at another SuperGroupies watch (the Chun-Li Street Fighter watch), and just like the previous occasions, we are walking away impressed.
Like other wristwatches from the Japanese fashion brand, the Chun-Li Street Fighter watch is badass. It’s a sharp-looking watch featuring a thick wristband with bold black and blue colours. It really pops on my wrist and stands out compared to the other watches I own.
Admittedly, I am typically not a fan of thick leather watch straps. I am a heavier dude and sweat a lot. Leather straps can get slimy and gross in hot weather. I’ll likely swap this one out down the road, but for now, while the temperatures are still cool, I am digging this large strap. Out of the box, it’s a bit stiff. It takes a bit of time to break-in. Yet after a few days, it molded nicely to my wrist.
Victory is Nice
I am sure many won’t even take the watch out of the box as these timepieces are known to be collector’s items. It’s easy to see why as the detail is impressive and as I mentioned incredibly hard to get. I am not much of a collector myself but there is no question I’ll be hanging on this watch for years to come. Who knows, maybe they’ll be worth a lot more one day.
There is nothing too fancy about them either. You don’t need to wait for the right occasion to strap it on. They are perfect for casual wear, but I would not hesitate to throw them on for a formal gathering. It’s certainly a watch you can be proud of. It doesn’t look cheap, and you won’t feel out of place wearing it at all.
The watch features three subdials. One is located at 12 o’clock, a 60 seconds counter at 6 o’clock, and a 60 minutes counter at 9 o’clock. The dial itself includes a slick etched traditional Chinese dragon inspired by Chun-Li. The blue base is modeled after her outfit color scheme. It’s a wonderful tribute to an iconic Street Fighter character.
It’s worth noting that the 60 minutes counter subdial located at the 9 o’clock position has a golden border. This is a direct reference to the embroidered collar of Chun-Li’s outfit. A nice subtle detail I didn’t notice until I read the description on the website. The 1/10th of a second counter and 60 seconds counter subdials at 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock have a black spiked border which is modeled after Chun-Li’s iconic bracelets. That large studded leather strap is also modeled after her iconic spiked bracelets.
On the back of the watch, you’ll notice the “Street Fighter V: Champion Edition” official logo etched on the back of the watch. I loved this as it just made the watch all the more authentic. You’ll want to hang on to the box as well as it features the “Street Fighter V: Champion Edition” official logo. All, of course, are officially licensed in collaboration with CAPCOM.
That’s Right, Fall to Your Knees
The details are truly spectacular. You do feel special owning one, like somehow you are one of the lucky few who managed to snag one. I cannot say enough good things about them. Granted, I am not sure how they will stand the test of time but so far, all signs point to a watch that is not only durable but is built with superb attention to detail.
SuperGroupies Chun-Li Street Fighter V watch is an impressive piece of video game merchandise. Hardcore Street Fighter fans will absolutely love the attention to detail. The price point isn’t exactly cheap but it’s worth every penny as this watch is nothing short of impressive. If you’ve managed to secure one of these watches, consider yourself lucky.
