Ninja Gaiden
Once the apex of 3D action games, the Ninja Gaiden series eventually morphed into a parody of itself. Thankfully, Team Ninja has gotten on track as of late with successes like Nioh, and they could give Ryu Hayabusa new life by implementing some of those design lessons. It’s too iconic of a franchise to ever die, so hopefully, we’ll see Ryu popping up in something other than Dead or Alive sometime soon.
Far Cry
Don’t get me wrong, Far Cry 5 was a lot of fun. It showed that the series still could deliver one heck of an open-world experience, but it was also a sign that the series was reaching the point of diminishing returns. It felt like yet another Far Cry game, and that makes the prospect of another one seem unappealing even if the end result is some good times. There’s a chance for the series to be more than that, and perhaps going deeper into Far Cry 2’s survival mechanics would freshen things up. Either way, there need to be some changes sooner or later if the series is going to continue to be one of Ubisoft’s main franchises.
Dead Space
While developer Visceral Games are no longer with us, the Dead Space IP still remains an important one for Electronic Arts. The company spent a lot of money promoting the series over the years, and that means a reboot could be a major player. Games like Resident Evil 7 have shown that horror still has a place among the mainstream, so doubling up on what made the original so great could do wonders for a new entry.
