So the sad truth is upon us: it’s almost the end of summer. Nintendo has been known to dabble in the occasional crossover or spin-off title with their properties, yet none have really seemed quite so outlandish as Cadence of Hyrule. Combining the control scheme of Crypt of the Necrodancer with the Legend of Zelda, we were treated to a unique and satisfying rhythm game we had never expected. It has strategy and soul, it breathes new life into your console, and it does so with an unexpected flare. The game may be short, but you’ll play it over and over again for those sweet tunes.
Remember that time your talking banana friend convinced you to pull off some sick parkour while shooting bad guys with trick shots? Hopefully you don’t, but that’s exactly what will happen with My Friend Pedro. Taking the 2.5D side angle genre to a whole new level, the game encourages you to pull off wild stunts and do so with style. This was a highly anticipated release for a small game and it delivers on blockbuster-quality action.
You might be too young to remember but back in the day the Crash Team Racing series was the one and only arcade contender to fend off against Mario Kart. With a roster of silly characters, bright colors, and some new, tight driving mechanics, Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled may seem like just another cart racer but it definitely stands on its own four wheels. If you are looking for a fun new racing game to destroy your friends, look no further, but be sure to practice the tight cornering and drifting first.
Looking for something to keep you up at night? The Sinking City is rich with eldritch horror and Lovecraftian Mythos as you explore a city mysteriously flooded as terrible creatures slowly consume the people in the darkness. Be careful with every bullet, investigate every clue, and solve every murder to slowly uncover the truth about this cursed town. The Sinking City offers an innovative new detective mechanic which lets you piece together evidence to draw multiple conclusions for each crime.
