5 Things We Love About Dark Souls 3, So Far

4.   The Bosses

In a game known for its downright intimidating bosses, I’d expect Dark Souls 3 to feature some of the stronger fights, and so far every single one I have run into has been memorable to an extent. Much moreso than could be said for a number of Dark Souls 2 bosses. Many have introductory cinematics, but beyond that, each boss feels like its own unique theme. Some are downright colossal in nature and require hitting specific weak-points, while others are more in line with your character’s stature, instead proving for tense battles with all sorts of champions throughout Lothric’s timeline. There are a few that I’d love to divulge here, but for the sake of going in blind (and man, do I hope you go in blind), you’re in for some serious cases of “Oh shit.”

5.   The Lore & World Building

The souls series are known for being notoriously vague, and fervent fans of the series have dissected the pieces and background of many items to determine just what has happened across the series of these games, however, a special mention goes out to Dark Souls 3 in this regard. It’s got many nods to past games, and it’s fitting in the case of Dark Souls 3, seeing as Miyazaki has stated it’s going to be the last in the series (although I wouldn’t rule out future entries, it’s just time for a break.). There’s a sense of closure, in the case of Dark Souls 3, and it is an underrated part of helping a game’s world feel cohesive. From Anor Londo to Drangleic to Lothric, this is all one giant world, and it’s going to kick your ass harder than ever before.
