Starfield Might Get Fixed This Week
Bethesda Game Studios has responded to widespread reports of crashing issues affecting the recently launched PS5 version of Starfield, following a rocky debut on Sony’s platform. The long-awaited release quickly ran into trouble, with players across both the base PS5 and PS5 Pro encountering freezes and crashes. Not only that, but some even faced progression-breaking save problems.

Within days of launch, frustrated users began sharing their experiences online, with some calling the port “unplayable” despite attempting various fixes such as disabling auto-save. In more severe cases, players have reportedly sought refunds from Sony after being unable to progress smoothly through the game.
Addressing the situation, Bethesda acknowledged the concerns via social media and reassured players that a fix is already in the works. The studio stated:
“Thanks for sharing your adventures across the Settled Systems this weekend — we’ve loved reading them!
“We’re aware of some reported PS5 crashing issues and have narrowed them down to a small number of causes. We’re addressing these in a hotfix we’re aiming to release this week. Thanks for flagging, and we’ll keep you posted.”
While Bethesda did not specify an exact release date for the hotfix or detail the root causes behind the crashes, the confirmation that a solution is on the way offers some relief to affected players.
For now, the community remains hopeful that the upcoming update will stabilize the experience and allow PS5 users to fully enjoy Starfield as intended.
