The series had previously reached six million copies in sales, a milestone that Square Enix announced in December 2024. Since then, the franchise has continued to grow with additional releases and wider platform availability.

One of the factors contributing to this latest achievement is the launch of Octopath Traveler 0. The title arrived in December 2025 and launched on multiple platforms, including the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, alongside other systems. The expanded availability has helped introduce the series to even more players around the world.

With the franchise continuing to gain momentum, the latest milestone highlights the steady popularity of the HD-2D series and its growing global audience.
