Sonic Rumble Welcomes the Smurfs
SEGA has announced that its multiplayer party game Sonic Rumble will host a limited-time crossover with The Smurfs starting March 16, 2026. The event arrives alongside a major update that introduces new features and relaunches the game under the updated title Sonic Rumble Party.
The collaboration event will run from March 16 at 9:00 CET until April 15 at 10:00 CEST. During this period, players can unlock special Smurfs-themed skins through the Event Pass and the Red Star Ring Store. The event also introduces themed collaboration stages where players can compete while dressed as their favorite Smurfs characters.
One of the biggest additions in the update is a new mode called Group Rumble. This mode focuses on simple and fast-paced mini games designed for quick matches. Up to eight players can compete in a single round, with more than 30 new mini games created specifically for this mode. Players who prefer a deeper competitive experience can still play existing modes such as Ring Hunt, while Group Rumble offers a more casual option for short and chaotic multiplayer sessions.
The update also introduces a new Toy Capsules system. The system increases progress based on the number of rounds players complete, allowing them to earn Skin Fragments and other rotating rewards. Toy Capsules can also grant puzzle pieces, which players can collect to complete puzzles and unlock extra rewards such as Red Star Rings.
Not only that, there are several additional improvements as well. Players can now earn Red Star Rings through the Season Pass, the daily free trials for the gripper have increased from one to four, and the developers have improved the Friends feature to make playing with others smoother.
