The Forgotten Star Wars Racing Game Resurfaces
Physical copies of the once-overlooked Star Wars Racer Revenge have surged in value on eBay, with some listings now exceeding $300, following reports that the game may be used in a PlayStation 5 jailbreak exploit.
Recently completed listings show a sharp and rapid rise in prices. On December 31, more than a dozen copies of the PlayStation 4 re-release sold for between $80 and $166. By January 1, another 11 copies changed hands at prices ranging from $180 to as high as $364.50. Since then, dozens more listings have appeared, with many sellers asking anywhere from $300 to $400 or more.

The sudden spike is linked to claims that Star Wars Racer Revenge contains code essential to triggering a new PlayStation 5 jailbreak method. When used with the physical disc, the exploit reportedly allows users to bypass system restrictions. This opens the door to unauthorized software and pirated games. This discovery has turned an otherwise niche racing title into a highly sought-after item almost overnight.
Not every buyer is necessarily planning to exploit the console, but the perceived value of the game has clearly changed. Resale tracking site Resell Calendar has issued alerts advising owners and retro game stores that boxed copies are now in unusually high demand.
Originally released on PlayStation 2 in 2002, Star Wars Racer Revenge received a limited PS4 reprint from Limited Run Games in 2019, with an estimated run of around 8,500 copies. Until recently, the game typically sold for about $20.
The renewed attention arrives shortly after the announcement of Star Wars: Galactic Racer. It is a new upcoming entry in the franchise revealed at The Game Awards 2025 and scheduled for release in 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S.
