Fear the Light, Embrace the Darkness
A tweeter user just posted saying, “I have been having an urge to play The Darkness again but I don’t feel like booting up or turning on my PS3. Can somebody please remaster and port this to PC sometime?” And to our surprise, Stephen Kick, the CEO of Nightdive Studios and director of System Shock retweeted with the caption, “ITS ON THE LIST”.
This could mean that a remastered version of ‘The Darkness’ is potentially in development. The game was developed by Starbreeze Studios and published by 2K. It was originally released on 25 June 2007 for PS3 and Xbox 360.
The Darkness is a first-person shooter that draws players into a gripping narrative centered around Jackie Estacado. A mafia hitman, Jackie finds his life forever altered on his 21st birthday. He becomes host to an ancient and malevolent force known as “The Darkness.” This parasitic power manifests itself as two serpentine entities that emerge from his shoulders and grant him extraordinary abilities.
The narrative prowess is amplified by its seamless incorporation of cinematic elements. As it allows players to immerse in a dark and atmospheric world that’s teeming with both danger and intrigue.
The game also features innovative gameplay mechanics. Players not only wield an arsenal of conventional firearms but also harness the supernatural abilities bestowed by The Darkness. These abilities range from creating destructive black holes to summoning dark minions to aid in combat. This fusion of conventional and supernatural firepower adds an exhilarating layer to the game, allowing players to adapt their strategies to various situations.
It will be wholesome if the rumors turn out to be true. We are also pretty sure that gamers will love to see a remake of this critically acclaimed title.
