Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition Comes Out at the End of July

Why Not Ludacris Edition?

Almost thirty years later, Rise of the Triad is making a return… again. The game has a rather convoluted history, but the bottom line is that another classic FPS is making its way to modern platforms. The Ludicrous Edition will be available at the end of July.

Rise of the Triad: Dark War was originally supposed to be a follow-up to Wolfenstein 3D. It changed direction and became its own game with the license going to Apogee Software. A remake was released in 2013, but the Ludicrous Edition is a remaster of the 1994 release, with extra content.

Rise of the Triad

You can see by the gameplay how the influence of Wolfenstein remains. The fast-pace, nazi-shooting bloodbath should be familiar to veteran players. It has some different, unconventional weapons and environmental elements that take the action into new territory, now in 4K. The 11-player multiplayer mode “Comm-Bat” returns as well.

The cutscenes and artwork have been remastered in HD and multiple audio settings. Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition offers the choice between the 1995 soundtrack and the 2013 remake soundtrack.

Players can also enjoy restored content from the “lost” betas and a brand new episode to the story. For the first time, gamers will be able to create their own levels in the map editor. You can layout walls, doors, enemies, and other environmental elements to create your own unique level.

Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition is coming out on July 31st. It will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
