Embacer Group co-founder and CEO, Lars Wingefors, was overjoyed at the decision to allow the game to be polished and for it to hit two million in sales. He stated, “I am happy to state that the game has now reached a sell-out of well over two million units…It is rewarding to see that the decision to give Dambuster Studios time to polish the game has paid off.” Furthermore, PLAION confirmed that the game is their biggest launch in history, in terms of both units and revenue.

Despite a rocky development period and several delays to its release, Dead Island 2 has surpassed expectations. It is clear that management’s decision to postpone the game until it was in a perfect state paid off in the long term and other games can learn from this. In modern gaming, fans prefer to wait on a perfect title than jump into a buggy and unoptimized mess.
