Dead Island 2 Soars To Success With One Million In Sales

Deep Silver Studios has been working on Dead Island 2, the sequel to Dead Island for some time. The game suffered several delays during its development and fans were concerned for the game ahead of its release. However, the game soared past expectations. The company announced that the game, since its release on April 21st, 2023, has sold one million copies and continues to grow. The game is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC via the Epic Games Store and Amazon.

Since its release, Dead Island 2 has been positively praised by fans as it offers fast-paced, zombie-slaying action. It is no surprise that it soared to success with one million in sales in three days.

Beyond the sales, the company revealed the following relative to Dead Island 2’s success from a player perspective. They are as follows:

  • 11 million total hours played
  • 28 million player deaths (over 2x the population of LA, the game’s setting)
  • 45 million zombies sliced in half
  • 756 million zombie limbs severed
  • 1.1 billion zombies killed

Additionally, the developers have confirmed that the Expansion Pass and other content from the pre-order package will only be available later on. The developers are aiming to have the content available during summer. In the game, players head to Los Angeles, where zombies have taken over. Along the journey, players will meet an array of unique characters, slay countless foes and slowly become the best zombie slayer around.
