Final Fantasy 14 Is Being Attacked By Hackers

Final Fantasy 14 Is Under Attack

Final Fantasy 14 seems to be the latest victim of hackers. Square Enix announced to the gaming public yesterday that the game is currently going through “an attack by a third party.” Apparently, hackers are trying to get into its account management system.

“We are currently experiencing an attack by a third party that is attempting to gain access to the Square Enix Account Management System by using a combination of email addresses and passwords that appear to have been obtained from other online services of other companies,” devs wrote in a blog post.

It would seem that hackers in the gaming industry just will not let the community catch a break. Recently, multiplayer online RPGs are the main target of their heinous acts of data collecting. With that said, Final Fantasy 14 devs are advising players to go into their profiles and change their passwords.

Based on what Square Enix has confirmed, it does not look like the hackers got any information just yet. However, they are strongly advising the Final Fantasy 14 community to immediately change their account passwords. They are even sending out emails to users whom they think are at risk the most.

At the moment, they are investigating the effects of the Final Fantasy 14 attack. They are doing this by “restricting access to accounts that we believe may have been compromised by unauthorized users.

“Even if your email address and password combination is not identical to those used for other services, there is still a high risk of your account being compromised if your password contains easily discernible patterns or sequences of characters such as your date of birth,” they continued.

They noticed “rising numbers of unauthorized access attempts” within Final Fantasy 14. However, devs did not provide data on the exact scale of the hackers’ effort at breaking into the game’s account management system.
