Dead Cells Devs Are Far From Done
News about Dead Cells nearing its end has been making its rounds on the Internet. However, developers Motion Twin and Evil Empire want fans to know that these reports are far from being true.
“We can see how people ended up thinking this,” devs wrote in a blog post. “But reports of our death have been greatly exaggerated.”
Dead Cells launched in 2018. Since its release, fans have been enjoying a wealth of free updates alongside its roster of paid-for DLC expansions. What makes these updates interesting is that the devs did not merely add more content. They actually came up with a new mechanic for building whole new runs around.
Fans speculated that devs might no longer be content to keep working on the game. After all, it has been around for quite some time now. It is still a well-supported game. In fact, devs released its last major content update just this January.
To assuage any doubts regarding the future of Dead Cells, devs shared a basic road map for the rest of the year. It confirmed that a new update is due for release in summer. Apparently, it is currently in its alpha testing. It is also getting a boss rush mode in autumn.
“Heading into 2023, we will not be slowing down,” devs added. “It is going to be by far our biggest year since the 1.0 launch and we are thrilled to show you what we have been cooking up behind the scenes.”
According to the devs, the Dead Cells franchise is still in its “mid-life.” “We have still got plenty of of life in us before our knees start to give in,” they continued. “We are not sneaking out to get drunk on street corners anymore.”
