FIFA Is Confident That Their Brand Will “Remain the Best”
FIFA has announced that they have a team already working on multiple new games. Their comments come following EA’s official confirmation that they are dropping FIFA’s tag. Starting 2023, all football games they make will be called EA Sports FC.
“I can assure you that the only authentic real game that has the FIFA name will be the best on available for gamers and football fans,” President Gianni Infantino said in a press release. “It will remain forever and remain the best.”
Some of the titles that the FIFA team is working in are reportedly due for release some time in the third quarter of 2022. Apparently, multiple non-simulation titles are already in the works. One of these games will be a “tailored gaming experience featuring the biggest event on Earth—the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022—which will bring new interactive experiences to fans across the globe.”
Unfortunately for fans, they did not provide any further information about the upcoming titles. However, devs did promise that they already have a “portfolio” of new games that they plan to release in 2022 and 2023. In fact, they are already discussing with “leading game publishers, media companies, and investors” regarding a new simulation football game for 2024.
EA still has exclusive rights to make football games with the FIFA name until the end of this year. With that said, FIFA 23 will launch according to schedule. Going forward, they will no longer have any exclusivity arrangements. They informed the gaming public of their plans to “work with a range of partners rather than lock up all gaming and esports rights exclusively with one publisher for the long term” last October. It was around this time that EA first announced that they are rebranding their football series.
