Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Remastered Isn’t Happening

Activision Has Confirmed That CoD: Modern Warfare 3 Remastered Rumours are Incorrect

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Remastered was first rumoured to be in the works last year. Since the rumour was posted on the Internet, it was quick to make its rounds within the gaming community. However, Activision has just come out to put all those fake news to rest. Unfortunately for those who got excited, it is not—and never has been—in the works.

Known CoD leaker, TheGamingRevolution, posted on social media then that Modern Warfare 3 Remastered has been “worked on for a while now.” This was all that was said about the game, as there was no further clarification about Activision’s plans of releasing the said project.

A spokesperson from Activision spoke with CharlieIntel and denied any truth to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Remastered rumours that have been circulating online. “A remaster of Modern Warfare 3—campaign or multiplayer—does not exist,” said the Activision rep. “Any reports otherwise are incorrect.”

There have only been two remastered versions within the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare franchise. The first one was Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. This got remastered and bundled into Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare back in 2016. The second remastered game was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered. Activision only remastered the latter game’s campaign mode and did not included the multiplayer mode. The latter remastered game was in the rumour mill since 2018, but was only revealed and released in 2020 with a bundle for use in Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Remastered would have been the franchise’s third remaster, had the rumours been true. Sadly, Activision does not seem to have any plans for any other CoD remasters—yet, anyway. It would appear that the company is more focused on new yearly premium titles that integrate with Call of Duty: Warzone.
