The Allure of the Mystery Box
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil franchise, which will also likely see the release of Resident Evil Village. Capcom is celebrating it in a number of ways, such as the Resident Evil Showcase this coming week. We will undoubtedly see more footage of Resident Evil Village, and perhaps news for other projects like an upcoming Resident Evil movie, the Resident Evil show, and now we are speculating on an unannounced Resident Evil game. A closed beta sign-up was opened a few days ago, but we still don’t have much information on what it is.
On January 14th, the beta test sign-up opened up. It will remain open until January 25th. The Resident Evil Showcase will take place on January 21st, where we expect details for what this beta really is. By then, many fans will have already signed up, so if you are worried that you might miss out on something really cool, sign up now. The actual beta test will take place between January 28th and January 30th, with downtime for maintenance. Beta testers will be selected through a lottery system.
Like other Capcom betas, more chances will be available to Resident Evil Ambassadors, which is a loyalty program for Resident Evil fans. Regular entries will have standard chances to be chosen while Silver, Gold, and Platinum Ambassadors will have 2x, 5x, and 10x the chances respectively to be selected for this closed beta. There will be two rounds of selections for this beta. Those who enter by January 20th will be eligible to be picked on January 22nd, while anyone who enters by January 25th can be selected on January 27th, so to maximize your chance, enter now. The beta will be open for PS4 and Xbox One users, but anyone with a PS5 or Xbox Series X will be eligible to enter as well, they will just be playing the last gen version of the beta.
