Mega Man: Dual Override Dropped a Brand-New Gameplay Trailer at Gamescom 2026

Check Out What’s Cooking in Mega Man: Dual Override

Capcom gave Mega Man fans their biggest surprise yet during Gamescom Opening Night Live by unveiling the first extended gameplay trailer for Mega Man: Dual Override. The new footage offers a detailed look at the action-platformer, introducing fresh mechanics, powerful bosses, and the return of a familiar hero.

Launching in 2027, the game will be the 12th mainline entry in the legendary series. It is set to release on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.

One of the trailer’s biggest reveals is Proto Man as a fully playable character. Rather than serving as a supporting ally, he brings his own unique abilities and combat style, giving players two distinct ways to experience the adventure.

Capcom also introduced the new Override System, which temporarily boosts a robot’s power beyond its normal limits. The catch is that once the boost expires, characters suffer a brief performance penalty, making timing a crucial part of combat.

Players can further customize Mega Man and Proto Man through the Custom Chip System, equipping upgrades such as rapid-fire shots, protective shields, hovering abilities, and other enhancements to create personalized builds.

Among the eight new Robot Masters, Twinkle Girl makes an explosive debut with dazzling firework-themed attacks. The trailer also teases the possible return of Astro Man from Mega Man 8, hinting that more classic Robot Masters could appear.

With classic side-scrolling action and exciting new ideas, Mega Man: Dual Override looks like it is going to be one of Capcom’s most anticipated releases.
