Protect Your Eagle Vision
Everybody knows Ubisoft, but how many of you recognize GUNNAR Optiks? Probably a good number, since they’re the current number one in gaming glasses, but if you don’t recognize them… they’re the number one in gaming glasses, as of writing. They’ve made it their goal to give eye protection that also looks cool, including at least one pair based on Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 and another pair literally called Torpedo. Most recently, they’ve announced their partnership with Ubisoft to create a set of official gaming glasses for Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. The glasses of the Vikings, if you will. Following in Reebok’s footsteps, the new collaboration will come with a set of Enigma frames and GUNNAR Optik’s patented Amber lens, which enhances player performance and blocks 65% of blue light. It’ll also include a branded glasses pouch, cleaning cloth, and glasses case, so taking care of them will be a breeze.
GUNNAR Optiks’ Director of Marketing Gaming and Brand, Georgina Petrie, had this to say: “We know Assassin’s Creed fans are a passionate group of gamers and that they will be losing themselves for many many hours exploring and virtually ‘living’ in this incredible viking world. Our part to play in their experience is simply to be there to help them play for longer, while protecting their eyes.”
Well, that sounds awesome, but what does it actually mean? In short, it means anti-glare, smudge-resistant glasses with sturdy frames designed for quality. Plus, the lenses will protect your eyes from both blue light and UV light. They’re actually available for purchase as prescription sunglasses, too, if that floats your longboat. Most importantly, these glasses boost vision at close range, reduce dry eye, and combat the effects of digital eye strain. If you spend huge chunks of your life staring at a screen, you could use these glasses. Heck, I could probably use these glasses. They’re already available on gunnar.com, so check that out if you need more gaming eyewear in your life and don’t mind paying $80 for it. Sometimes the price tag is worth it.
Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla will be released on November 10th for Xbox Series X, Steam, the Epic Games Store, Google Stadia, and PS4, with a PS5 version available at launch.
