Call of Duty League Going From Five-Player to Four-Player
The 2020 Call of Duty League season recently finished with Dallas Empire claiming the title and $1.5 million in prize money, but next year one of the members may not be there to celebrate the victory. Call of Duty League will reduce their teams from five players to four players for the next competitive season, making teams around the world bench or furlough the additional teammate. This reduction in team sizes will also make things more difficult for aspiring competitive Call of Duty players. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available right now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
“On September 12th and13th, we plan to celebrate the League’s top players, as voted for by fans in the Metro by T-Mobile CDL All-Star Weekend,” said CDL Commissioner Johanna Faries. “And when the clock strikes midnight, Monday, September 14th will mark the official start of the 2021 League year. “With a new season comes new announcements across many fronts. Today we shared that we will be transitioning to starting roster sizes of four players per team for Season 2, marking a kind of ‘return to our roots’. This decision was made in close collaboration with our teams and players, and it was not made lightly.”
“We know that this transition also brings new implications for both pro and amateur players with rostermania season fast approaching,” continued Johanna Faries. “Over the course of the offseason, we will share more news regarding plans for the 2021 Season including details on maps, modes, formats, schedule, and more.
