Get Your Xbox One Console While You Can
Microsoft is officially ending production of both the Xbox One X and Xbox One S All-Digital Edition consoles to prepare for the coming of the Xbox Series X. The consoles were recently listed as discontinued on Amazon and Microsoft has confirmed gamers’ suspicions. The Xbox One S hasn’t been officially discontinued yet and Microsoft will continue to produce the less powerful console but the Xbox One X is wrapping up production now. Xbox Game Pass is available across all Xbox One consoles and it will be carrying forward to the Xbox Series X at no additional cost.
“As we ramp into the future with Xbox Series X, we’re taking the natural step of stopping production on Xbox One X and Xbox One S All-Digital Edition,” said an official statement from Microsoft. “Xbox One S will continue to be manufactured and sold globally. Gamers can check with their local retailers for more details on Xbox One hardware availability.” With the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition and the Xbox One X being discontinued but the base Xbox One S continuing production, it seems like Microsoft has taken their middle lane unit to continue producing into the release of the Xbox Series X.
With the Xbox One X wrapping up production, it’s less likely that consumers will be confused between the Xbox One X and the Xbox Series X when the latter releases later this year. It’s likely that this shift in production reflects a shift in focus at Microsoft, with the Xbox team focusing almost entirely on next-gen. It won’t be long before the Xbox Series X is released, but in the meantime Xbox fans can check out the Series X game showcase on July 23rd.
