Kodansha and InkyPen Join Forces to Bring Manga to Nintendo Switch
Kodansha and InkyPen have teamed up to bring some of the most popular manga to the Nintendo Switch. While the device doesn’t have an internet browser or Netflix, Kodansha and InkyPen are eager to make manga accessible on the hybrid console. Nintendo Switch gamers will soon have access to Fairy Tail, Attack on Titan, Monster Soul, Ace of the Diamond, The Ghost in the Shell and many more on the go with their favorite hybrid console. While there are free samples that new manga fans can try out, true access to the extensive manga collection will cost a subscription fee of $7.99 per month. There’s no word if this will also require a Nintendo Switch Online account or not as of now.
“Manga is here! We’ve partnered with @KodanshaUSA to bring a HUGE library of manga to InkyPen on your #NintendoSwitch,” proclaimed InkyPen Comics on Twitter. “Available now, you can read hits such as Attack on Titan, Fairy Tail, Battle Angel Alita, Parasyte and many more!” Although this is the first method of bringing manga to the Nintendo Switch, it’s likely other manga will transition to the platform in some way or another if the InkyPen and Kodansha collaboration is successful on the hybrid console.
The lack of a web browser on the Nintendo Switch has made it difficult for manga fans to catch up on their favorite series’ using the device, but Kodansha and InkyPen aim to change this with their service. The extensive catalog of manga has been in the works since 2018, giving Nintendo Switch fans plenty of content to read through on the go or at home. While Attack on Titan is a popular manga on their service, there’s no word on a Netflix app for the Nintendo Switch that would allow fans to watch the anime on the very same device.
