Twitch Streamer Dr Disrespect Is Working on a Memoir
Well known Twitch Streamer, Dr Disrespect, is working with Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, to create a memoir called Violence. Speed. Momentum. The memoir is expected to release in 2021 and it will apparently be written in character rather than from the perspective of the man behind the streamer. While Dr Disrespect’s backstory is muddled in mystery, people looking to get to know Herschel “Guy” Beahm IV won’t be finding many answers in this character-memoir. Twitch is available on PS4, Xbox One, mobile, PC and Mac and gamers can get to know Dr Disrespect there before the release of his memoir in 2021.
“The Champions Club demands the legend of Dr Disrespect be told,” said Dr Disrespect in a recent statement. “While best read off the base of Mt. Olympus, fans worldwide will soon marvel at my history’s secrets. You’re welcome.” Considering his ability to hype himself up, Guy’s community will eat up the in-character memoir that will likely include very similar language. Although we may not get answers as to how he ended up where he is, we may now know what the Blockbuster Video Game Championships were and what specific Ethiopian caterpillar has attached itself to his face under his nose. Though we won’t all read it at the base of Mt. Olympus, we’re looking forward to getting our hands on the doubtlessly entertaining memoir.
While the character-memoir genre is a niche concept, it previously gained traction with Will Ferrell writing an in-character memoir as Ron Burgundy, his Anchorman persona. The Ron Burgundy memoir was released between Anchorman and Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues which likely contributed to ticket sales of the sequel. It’ll be interesting to see how Dr Disrespect uses the hype generated from his memoir to further his comedic brand.
