EA Announces Closed Alpha for (Possibly) Garden Warfare 3

2020 – Year of the Plant

Last week, EA announced that Plants Vs Zombies 3 is in development and that the pre-alpha is available to Android users. Your ol’ pal Zane even said that another PvZ: Garden Warfare game would be the perfect companion piece to it. Well, dreams do come true! Some of the lower priority ones do at least! I mean, global environmental stability is cool, but PvZ! EA put out an invitation to some people to “participate in the new PvZ shooter (codename Picnic) playtest”. Unless it’s another spin-off of some sort, it’s got to be Garden Warfare 3, right?

Emails went out to EA’s playtesters on the weekend. In part, it read “Made by the team that created PvZ: Garden Warfare, the Picnic closed alpha will give players a first glimpse into the new game.” It also said that it can be playtested on PS4 or Xbox One. If this doesn’t scream Garden Warfare 3, then I don’t know what does. A while ago, there were rumors that EA would be putting out a new PvZ shooter this fall. There was also an instance where a third Garden Warfare game was listed on Amazon, but “leaks” on Amazon almost always turn out to be mistakes.

There was a two year gap between the first and second Garden Warfare games, and now three years later, we should be due for another one. Perhaps the third installments of both the main series and the Garden Warfare series will be coming out around the same time. They may even have gameplay connections of some sort. No release date for either Plants Vs Zombies games, but this supposed Garden Warfare game will likely come out on the test platforms Xbox One and PS4.
