Rejoice! Now Everybody Has Access to the Gears of War 4 Beta
The Gears of War 4 Beta has been granted full access for everyone with an Xbox Live Gold membership for Xbox One starting today, April 25th and runs until May 1st. Previously, the Beta was only accessible to those who purchased the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, this ran from April 18 – 24 for those who played before April 11th.
To access, search “Gears of War 4 beta” from your dashboard and download the client which clocks in at 7.03GB in size. The beta will give a taste of what’s to come in the multiplayer with access to three versus playlists that show different modes of the game.
Avaliable Game Modes:
- Team Deathmatch – Classic 5v5 action, each side sharing a pool of respawns, after the allowed respawns are depleted you will stay dead until the round ends.
- Dodgeball – A 5v5 elimination mode, players can “tag” back in a teammate if they kill an opponent, the fallen teammate will respawn if the player who got the kill survives for five seconds.
- Bots – This multiplayer mode pits man against AI-controlled bots which serves as training to new players looking to hone their weapon skills before jumping against real players. Access to Hardcore mode in the beta is available but more difficulty levels will come for the release.
Available Maps:
- The three maps in the Gears of War 4 beta will include “Harbor”, “Dam” and “Foundation.”
Our own Trevor Houston had a chance to jump into the Closed Beta and had this to say:
For the past few days I have been fully immersed in the Gears of War 4 multiplayer beta. Overall, I enjoyed my time with the beta and there is no question Gears 4 is in good hands. While I recognize this is a true beta representing an unfinished product in development, I also had some issues with the game in its current form. Some of which I hope will be rectified before it launches.
Don’t miss your chance to check out Gears of War in next-gen glory. Gears of War 4 is slated to release on October 11th, 2016 for Xbox One.
