Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Is Getting a New Free Update Later This Month

Enter the Depths of Tertium in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is about to get even darker. Fatshark has revealed Depths of the Damned, a free major update launching on September 29 for Steam, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, packed with a new mission, deadly weapons, a terrifying boss, and more.

The highlight of the update is Spillway, a brand-new mission that sends Strike Teams into the forgotten underbelly of Tertium. Hidden beneath the Hive lies the notorious domain of the Water Cartel, a sprawling network of flooded tunnels, abandoned waterways, and crumbling passages consumed by Chaos. Every decision matters as squads choose between branching routes, with some paths proving far more dangerous than others.

Waiting at the end of every journey is the Prophet of Decay, a powerful Psyker who has transformed the depths into a nightmarish stronghold. Fatshark is keeping many details under wraps, but the studio promises more reveals about this twisted new boss in the weeks leading up to launch.

Players will also gain access to six new weapons that expand the game’s brutal arsenal. The update introduces new weapon marks, including the Crusher Krourk Mk VII, Double-Barrelled Shotgun Krourk Mk IV, Gromm Mk I Battle Maul, and Mk V Slab Shield, alongside entirely new weapon families such as the Ogryn Cruncher, Huntsman’s Shotgun, and Ogryn Thugshot.

On top of the new mission and weapons, the update brings a fresh live event, rotating store content, and several quality-of-life improvements.

If you’ve been waiting for a reason to dive back into Tertium, Depths of the Damned looks ready to deliver one of Darktide’s most intense adventures yet.
