An Epic Crossover Arrives on Astral Ascent
Indie developer Hibernian Workshop has released The Ravenswatch Sentinel, a major free crossover update for its critically acclaimed action roguelite Astral Ascent. Available now on PC, the update arrives alongside a new trailer and blends the dark, myth-inspired world of Ravenswatch with the luminous, celestial setting of the Garden.
At the heart of the update are five iconic characters from the Ravenswatch universe, introduced into Astral Ascent as Echoes. These powerful summons can be activated during runs to turn the tide of battle. The lineup features grim reinterpretations of classic folklore figures, including Scarlet (Little Red Riding Hood), the Pied Piper, Beowulf, the Snow Queen, and the legendary wizard Merlin. Merlin’s inclusion is especially notable, as his arrival coincides with his debut as a fully playable character in Ravenswatch, creating a unique parallel launch across both games.
The crossover also introduces a brand-new area, the Hourglass of Dreams, a room inspired by Ravenswatch’s haunting aesthetic. Here, players encounter the Sandman, a key non-playable character who allows them to upgrade the rarity of Gambits, special modifiers that enhance spells with additional effects and power. This room is also the only place to obtain Vengeful Echoes, exceptionally powerful variants that require players to sacrifice an existing Echo, adding a meaningful risk-reward decision to each run.
With this release, Astral Ascent reaches its 13th free content drop and 16th major update in just two years. It also marks the game’s sixth major crossover, following collaborations with Dead Cells, Children of Morta, ScourgeBringer, Ember Knights, and Spiritfall. The Ravenswatch Sentinel is available now on PC, with console versions arriving soon on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
