Fleetbreakers Just Dropped a New Gameplay Trailer Alongside an Updated Demo

Command Your Forces in Fleetbreakers

Last Keep has revealed a new gameplay trailer for Fleetbreakers, a fast-paced roguelite RTS formerly known as Project Citadel, along with an updated playable demo now live on Steam.

Developed by industry veterans Dave Pottinger (Age of Empires, Age of Mythology), Jason Sallenbach (Halo Wars, Rage 2), and Yohan Sengamalay (Halo 3, Alan Wake), Fleetbreakers merges the intensity of roguelike combat with the strategic depth of classic real-time strategy. The game condenses the scale and decision-making of grand RTS experiences into short, high-stakes battles where every choice matters.

Fleetbreakers

Players take on the role of a young commander leading a fledgling rebel faction against the Voltari, a tyrannical galactic empire. The campaign unfolds across a vast Starmap, where each move, whether expanding colonies, engaging in battles, or responding to sector events, shapes the course of the war. Every decision triggers dynamic enemy reactions, forcing players to adapt their tactics and outsmart the Voltari at every turn.

When the time for action comes, players can assemble their fleet from a diverse roster of ships, each with unique roles and abilities. Battles take place in procedurally generated encounters where players must balance resource management, positioning, and reinforcements to reclaim territory across the galaxy. Exploration, character interactions, and new technologies further deepen the experience as the rebellion evolves.

Originally set for a 2025 release, Fleetbreakers is now slated to launch in Early Access in Q1 2026. “Fleetbreakers is a bit of a return to our roots as well as an opportunity to bring something fresh and new to the strategy genre” said Last Keep CEO Dave Pottinger speaking on the project and its development. “RTS games are having a resurgence and now is a great time to show a new generation why we love them so much.”
