Command the Knights of the Crusades
Reverie World Studios, in collaboration with indie.io, has announced that Knights of the Crusades will officially leave Early Access and launch in 1.0 on September 6. The hybrid strategy title has been shaped extensively by community feedback, with months of testing and updates refining its balance, features, and scope.
In Knights of the Crusades, players begin as a minor knight with a small warband, setting out to join the First Crusade. From there, they can build a powerful military order, rise to continental influence, and even alter the course of history. The game captures the defining conflicts of the Middle Ages from multiple viewpoints, whether as Christian knights marching to Jerusalem, Muslim rulers facing both foreign invaders and internal struggles, or unaligned kingdoms navigating their own survival.
The Early Access period played a major role in broadening the experience. Reverie World Studios expanded gameplay to include factions at the edges of the Crusades, such as Slavic and pagan powers, who bring distinctive strengths and challenges to the battlefield. This flexibility ensures that each campaign offers a different approach to medieval warfare.
At full release, players can expect expanded narrative campaigns, cultural overhauls for Christian, Muslim, Orthodox, and Pagan factions, as well as improved diplomacy mechanics and a reworked naval combat system. Another highlight is the upcoming customization of player-created Holy Orders, allowing for selectable heraldry, laws, and religious creeds. New sandbox features, including economic systems and map-based build timers, aim to provide greater depth and long-term strategy.
Knights of the Crusades is available now in Early Access on Steam and will officially launch in version 1.0 on September 6.
