Prepare for Your Coal Duty
Mining is already a dangerous job, but Coal Duty takes workplace hazards to a terrifying new level. Corecrew Games has announced that its 1–5 player co-op extraction horror-comedy will launch in Early Access on Steam on October 27, challenging players to meet deadly quotas while trying to escape the horrors lurking underground.
Set in a world where the sky froze three generations ago, Coal Duty puts players in the boots of miners working under the State’s strict demands. Meeting quotas is the priority, but crews can also hunt for hidden loot, spend tickets on workshop upgrades, and strike secret deals with smugglers. The catch? Proximity voice chat means anything players say could attract unwanted attention from whatever lurks in the darkness.
The Early Access launch will bring plenty of new content compared to the demo. Players can explore Easy and Hard mine floors, venture into procedurally generated mines across multiple biomes, face the full roster of creatures, and access the previously unavailable escape machine. Two complete endings will also be available from day one, with the first taking roughly five hours to reach.
Corecrew Games plans to keep expanding the experience throughout an estimated 12–18-month Early Access period. Upcoming additions include new creatures, biomes, escape routes, endings, tools, and hub activities. The five-person development team has already gathered feedback from around 2,500 community playtesters to help shape the game.
Coal Duty will launch with support for 13 languages, and its free Steam demo is available to try ahead of Early Access. With terrifying creatures, risky deals, and quotas that won’t wait, Coal Duty looks ready to turn every mining shift into a fight for survival.
