REPLACED Will Arrive in Spring 2026
Sad Cat Studios and Thunderful have announced a new release window for their highly anticipated sci-fi action platformer, REPLACED. The game will launch on PC and Xbox Series X|S in Spring 2026. The news came via a development update video, where the team showcased behind the scenes footage and spoke about the game’s progress.
“We know that our community is incredibly excited to play REPLACED and it’s no secret that it’s taken longer than we initially thought to deliver that to you all – we apologise for that,” said Game Director Yura Zhdanovich. “We’ve always been trying to do what’s right for the project, which in turn, means delivering to you a truly special experience. The good news is that we now are very close to finishing production and REPLACED will be coming to PC and Xbox Series X|S in Spring 2026.”
Set in an alternate 1980s America, REPLACED blends free-flow combat, cinematic platforming, and striking pixel art. Players step into the role of R.E.A.C.H., an AI unwillingly trapped in a human body, struggling to adapt to it. All while navigating Phoenix City, a crumbling metropolis scarred by a nuclear catastrophe. Society is plagued by corruption and exploitation, with the powerful treating human lives and organs as currency.
Designed as a single-player narrative experience, the game promises both fluid combat mechanics and a haunting dystopian story. Its retro-futuristic aesthetic and atmospheric tone have already drawn significant attention since the game’s reveal.
Critics and early previews have fueled the anticipation. IGN, for example, suggested REPLACED could join the ranks of indie classics like Limbo, Inside, and Braid. With its mix of action, storytelling, and style, the game has quickly become one of the most talked-about upcoming releases.
