Take a Last Look Along Woodward Boulevard
Indie developer Garage Heathen has launched a public demo for Last Look along Woodward Boulevard, a surreal horror puzzle adventure where your thoughts shape the world around you. Now available for free on Steam, the demo offers a significant preview of the full experience, featuring about one-third of the final game.
Players can expect six to seven hours of gameplay in this early slice. The core of Last Look revolves around a distinctive “thought and mood” system. Your character’s internal state not only alters puzzle solutions but also changes how the story unfolds. This psychological layer blends with atmospheric world design to offer an experience that encourages patience, observation, and careful exploration.
The demo includes twelve cinematic cutscenes, combining both live action and CGI, as well as a diverse original soundtrack of more than 30 tracks. Several of these pieces were created in collaboration with the experimental band Three of Pentacles (Upright), adding to the game’s unusual tone.
Though it shares surreal elements with Garage Heathen’s earlier title Who’s Lila?, this game leans more heavily into puzzles and offers a more structured narrative flow. The final version is still in active development and promises to expand the branching storyline with new areas, mechanics, and character paths.
Last Look along Woodward Boulevard invites players into a world where perception is power, and nothing remains the same for long. The free demo is now available on Steam.
