ROBOSCAV Demo Is Live on Steam, Letting Players Build Their Own Combat Robots

Escape the Planet in ROBOSCAV

Smiley Face Games has officially released the demo for ROBOSCAV on Steam, giving players an early look at its unusual mix of turn-based combat, extraction gameplay, and roguelite progression. Inspired by games such as Quasimorph and Sword of the Stars: The Pit, ROBOSCAV puts a unique spin on the genre by letting players tear parts from enemy robots and use them to improve their own machines.

In ROBOSCAV, players take on the role of a genius engineer whose ship crashes while exploring the galaxy. Stranded on a hostile planet with only a remote-controlled droid crew, your goal is to gather resources, repair the damaged ship, and find a way to escape.

Survival won’t be easy, especially with limited resources and expensive repairs. Players will need to strip defeated enemies for valuable components and carefully decide how to use their supplies. They can also customise their droids as well, allowing players to swap limbs, chassis components, utility modules, and combat systems. Whether you prefer durable frontline fighters, fast samurai-style droids, long-range snipers, or experimental hybrids, there are plenty of ways to build your team.

The planet itself is far from empty. Rival factions, alien creatures, and even hostile sentient plant life all pose threats. As your scavenging operations attract more attention, you’ll eventually find yourself being hunted.

While escaping the planet is the main objective, ROBOSCAV also gives players the chance to influence its future by working with powerful factions or exploiting their weaknesses.

With its robot-building mechanics and dangerous scavenging runs, ROBOSCAV looks like an intriguing title to keep an eye on.
