KINGDOM HEARTS Is Also Getting an Anime Series
SQUARE ENIX and Disney & Pixar Games have finally given fans a clearer look at KINGDOM HEARTS IV, confirming that the highly anticipated action RPG is now scheduled to launch in late 2027. The announcement came during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event 2026, where a brand-new trailer also introduced a vibrant new world inspired by Disney and Pixar’s Coco.
The latest trailer came out during the Disney Entertainment Showcase and offered fans a deeper look at what awaits Sora in the next chapter of the long-running series. KINGDOM HEARTS IV will once again take players across worlds inspired by Disney and Pixar, while introducing new characters, abilities, and challenges.
The game continues Sora’s journey through the mysterious city of Quadratum, where the dangerous Heartless have begun causing trouble. Familiar faces will also return, with Donald Duck and Goofy once again joining the adventure. Interestingly, the trailer revealed that players will also be able to play as Mickey Mouse, Donald, and Goofy while investigating Sora’s whereabouts.
The D23 event also celebrated the franchise’s 25th anniversary with a special Kingdom Hearts panel featuring members of the creative team and voice cast. In addition, Disney announced that an original Kingdom Hearts anime series is currently in development for Disney Channel and Disney+, with Tetsuya Nomura and the SQUARE ENIX creative team involved.
KINGDOM HEARTS IV is coming to Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in late 2027. Fans can already add the game to their wishlists.
